You will be able to use them with adapters on mirrorless cameras like the Sony NEX series or Olympus/Panasonic Micro 4/3. The problems of using them with adapters are discussed in this thread:
#Minolta camera x700 manual
However, I believe that the X700 lenses are manual focus and are not compatible with Sony (and Minolta) AF cameras.
Sony took over Minolta's camera business and current Sony Alpha series DSLRs and SLT cameras can use Minolta AF (auto focus) lenses. It would be fantastic if there was a "point & shoot" option for the other half to use - he is intimidated by the whole SLR thing mainly because his vision is not the best. I do a little bit of action work (or used to) some indoor, mostly outdoor - people, animals, landscapes/weather, car shows and the like. Just want a good camera for general purpose photography. I am not looking for a "professional" model. Minolta 50mm (standard lens that came with the camera body) Sigma Zoom - f=28 ~ 135mm with macro capability (my favorite all purpose lens) Looking for suggestions on which body would accept these lenses (bayonet style (?) - slide in & twist to lock in place) Have several lenses for the Minolta, including a couple of zoom lenses that are in excellent condition and would like to be able to use them with a newer camera, but have no idea which one they would be compatilbe with.
The Minolta X700 was/is a great camera, belonged to my mother, passed to me about 10 years ago, but being film, it is more or less obsolete. I am not overly familiar with all of the terminology, but willing to learn. As the title says, I would love to "upgrade" to a digital SLR.
